Mamontov

Mamontov is a slab serif type family of 25 weights, ranging from Light to Black and from Condensed to Wide. It was designed by Oleg Macujev in 2007–2011. Originally Mamontov has been inspired by poster (mostly wooden) types of the end of 19th—the beginning of 20th centuries. The type family has almost a clarendon construction, but asymmetrical serifs, ink traps and soft stroke endings provide it a warm appearance. While Light, ExtraBold and Black weights have been conceived to be used in display sizes, Regular is well suited for long texts.
The type family was named after Savva Ivanovich Mamontov (1841–1918), a Russian industrialist, merchant and patron of the arts.
