Cyrillic festival

Logo for the «Cyrillic festival 2009» (annual typography and calligraphy Cyrillic festival in Kharkov (Ukraine)). Letters are based on combining the historical tradition and modern trends. The massive and rough forms of halfustav script calligraphy got calligraphic structure and fresh contemporary graphics. Ligatures «IR», «IC» are designed to invigorate the look and meet the basic idea of the festival—to breathe the spirit of old calligraphic tradition into the modern Cyrillic.
